2. Pre-Flight Preparations

2.1 Preparing the Aircraft

• Download App

You’ll need the DJI Fly app to use your aircraft—just click here to download it.

• Remove the Gimbal Cover

Press and remove the gimbal cover.

• Activate the Battery

Press the power button once to activate the aircraft battery and check the battery level.

• Charging Method

It is recommended to fully charge the Intelligent Flight Battery before each use.

① It is recommended to connect the aircraft to the official DJI charger via the USB-C port for charging.

② Use the battery charging hub to charge the battery.

• Power On/Off

Press, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power on or off the aircraft.

• Attach/Detach the Propellers

Propellers are pre-installed upon shipment. If the propeller is damaged or misshapen, please refer to the tutorial video for replacement.

2.2 Preparing the Remote Controller and Goggles

• DJI RC-N3

Charging Type

Mount the control sticks: Remove the control sticks from the storage slots at the bottom of the remote controller and screw it in place.

Power on/off: Press, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power on or off the remote controller.

• DJI RC Motion 3

Charging Type

Power on/off: Press, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power on or off the motion controller.

• DJI Goggles N3

Charging Type

Power on/off: Press, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power on or off the goggles.

2.3 Connection & Activation

Just make sure to activate your new product through the app. Activation works differently depending on which combo you have, so just follow the activation steps for the specific product combo you bought.

2.4 Firmware Update

A prompt will appear in DJI Fly when a firmware update is available. Update the firmware following the corresponding instructions to ensure optimal flight experience.

2.5 Connecting the DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver

If you’re using the aircraft with a remote controller or goggles, make sure to attach the DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver first.

2.6 Setting Obstacle Avoidance

Open the DJI Fly app, go to Safety settings, set Obstacle Avoidance Action as “Bypass” or “Brake”, and adjust the RTH altitude to be higher than the tallest building or object around.

2.7 Checking Your Device

1. Make sure the battery, propellers, and control sticks are installed properly and securely.

2. Make sure the aircraft and remote controller have sufficient battery levels.

3. Make sure the satellite positioning signal icon remains white before takeoff and the prompt "Home Point updated" is displayed.

3. For Beginners

3.1 Flight Policies

Stay informed about the latest information on flight zones, flight restrictions, and requirements before flight. Strictly adhere to them while operating your aircraft.

3.2 Flight Environment Requirements

▸ Do not fly in severe weather conditions such as strong winds, snow, rain, and fog.

▸ Avoid obstacles, crowds, bodies of water (it is recommended to keep at least 1 m away from water). Do not fly the aircraft near airports, highways, railway stations, railway lines, city centers, or other sensitive areas, unless any permit or approval is obtained under local regulations.

▸ Minimize interference by avoiding areas such as power lines, base stations, and broadcasting towers.

3.3 Protecting Your Device

To maintain your aircraft in best condition over time, please take care of important components during use.

Camera: Avoid exposing the camera lens to environments with laser beams (such as laser shows) or capturing objects which have intense light sources (such as the sun) for a long time to prevent damage to the sensor.

Intelligent Flight Battery and Remote Controller: Long-term storage may affect battery performance. To maintain battery health, it is recommended to charge it every three months.

4. Getting Ready for the First Flight

DJI Neo 2 supports multiple control methods to meet different usage scenarios and demands. Make sure you are familiar with the notice and usage for each control method before flight.

4.1 Palm Control

· Palm Takeoff: Hold the sides of the aircraft from below with the lens facing you, press the takeoff button once, and wait for it to take off automatically.

· Gesture Control: Face the aircraft lens and raise your palm. Once the status indicator turns blue, you can control the aircraft using gestures.

· Palm Landing (Return to Home): While the aircraft is hovering, stand in front of it and hold out your hand with your palm open and fingers straight. Keep your hand steady, and the aircraft will land automatically.

4.2 Mobile App Control

· Manual Control: The aircraft can be controlled using the virtual joystick in the app.

· Intelligent Shooting: With DJI Neo 2, you get intelligent shooting features like QuickShots and ActiveTrack.

· SelfieShot: You can use it for both single and group shots. The aircraft will automatically adjust its position and framing depending on the framing option you choose.

· Return to Home: Tap the RTH icon on the left side of the camera view in the app. When the pop-up appears, press and hold the RTH icon to start Return to Home.

4.3 RC Control

The control sticks can be operated in Mode 2, Mode 3, Mode 1, or Custom. The tutorial video demonstrates the operations using Mode 2 on DJI RC-N3.

· Auto Takeoff and Landing: Tap the button on the left side of the camera view in the app, then press and hold the pop-up to make the drone take off automatically or return to home.

· Manual Takeoff and Landing: Start the motors with the left and right control sticks by pushing them toward or away from each other, then gently push the left stick upward to take off the aircraft. Pull the left stick down to land the aircraft. After landing, keep pulling the left stick down until the motors stop.

· Flight Control: Move the left stick to adjust the aircraft’s altitude and orientation, and use the right stick to fly it forward, backward, left, or right.

· Taking Photos and Videos: The Shutter/Record button is on the upper right side of the remote controller. Press once to take a phot or start recording.

· Return to Home: Press and hold the RTH button on the remote controller, or tap the RTH icon in the app and then press and hold the popup. The aircraft will automatically start returning to home.

4.4 Motion Control

Before your first flight with DJI RC Motion 3, you can watch the tutorial guide in the Goggles: Settings > Control. It is recommended to follow the on-screen instructions to learn the basic flight controls.

· Manual Takeoff and Landing: Press the Lock button twice to start the aircraft motors, then press and hold the Lock button for auto takeoff and hover. Press and hold the Lock button again, and the aircraft will automatically land and stop the motors.
